This game is $10.99 on Steam right now. Based only on the demo, this game has got to be worth more than that. I highly recommend people consider capitalizing on this sale so we can possibly use it as a gamenight alternative :)

I'm two missions into the campaign and three skirmishes under my belt, and I stand by my previous statement that this game is a steal at $10 and should be purchased. It's still missing some of the complexities of Supreme Commander 1 that I loved, but it makes up for it.

Well, yesterday I tried to play some Supreme Commander 2, but after the tutorial and 1 mission my computer turned off due to overhead. So I finally caved in and bought a new cooler for my GPU. I was very pleased to find one specifically designed for the exact card I'm using. Here's hoping it'll make my video card stop running hot enough to cook a steak on!

I'm through the UEF campaign now, as well as the first Illuminate mission. Still having a blast, though a few "I miss this from SupComm 1" things are starting to show up. Experimentals feel neutered compared to SupComm1, and I am definitely starting to miss being able to order something built even though the resources aren't quite in yet and to pay for it with my income rate, not having to have the exact amount needed for the unit/building just to start it. This creates the two fold problem of never having the money for certain things sometimes and my factories ceasing auto-build because they just happened to not have enough mass at that given second.

That said, I love how the tech tree and units are handled, VAST improvement over SupComm 1 there. No longer can my foe or I jump from tech 1 to tech 2 and suddenly render all currently on the board units obsolete, forcing us back into rebuilding our stuff before we can accomplish anything again. Now when I increase all air unit health and damage, it increases all air unit health and damage, even the ones on the field. Brilliant.

I also like how they've taken even greater strides to make the factions unique. The Illuminate and Cybran's fighter is a fighter/bomber, while the UEF has to build separate units for that, which results in their air superiority fighter being superior per-unit. And all Illuminate ground units hover now, so they can't even build a navy.

I loved the last UEF mission. I built a "front line" of shield generator protected ground and air turrets, hiding long-range artillery cannons behind them, and a small army of engineers nearby who were smart enough to manually repair structures that started taking damage and reclaim enemy wrekage. I had my ground factories pumping out tanks and rockets and eventually Fatboys to this line, destroying everything that came at them with near impunity. I really wish they let you build artillery structures earlier in the campaign because they are FUN.

Played the demo. Felt very meh about it. Then again I never really could get into Sup. Commander 1 or the Total Annihilation games. Funny since it's giant robot mech armies blowing each other up, which would normally appeal to me. Glad folks are having fun with it though, just not my cup o' tea.
