As an FYI I have this now. I've just scratched the surface with multiplayer. My impression so far is that every character has been "tweaked" but is more or less the same. Some of the tweaks are more noticeable than others. Ragna, for example, doesn't feel much different. Noel is a bit different in that they've made her ground-based distortion drive a little more difficult to pull off. Meanwhile Bang and Rachael have been given an additional Distortion Drive each, and so far I can tell that Liche, Ragna, Haku-men, and λ-11 all have entire new "direction-plus-attack" moves that gives them more base combo versatility. There's also slight visual changes that I think help a lot, like any time Tager uses a magnetizing attack he glows yellow now.

In what little playing I've done so far, most characters feel "better" than their BB:CT equivalents, and I think specifically that Liche and possibly Bang have gotten buffed. λ-11 doesn't feel "nerfed" to me because for everything they nerfed from ν-13, they buffed something else. Noel feels nerfed to me, but I can't put my finger on how/why yet.

I think λ-11 probably has the most changes, which makes some sense since she's technically not the same person as ν-13 was. Some of her special moves are less potent, for example λ-11 can only summon one gravity field at a time now and you have to wait for a meter to fill before you can summon another. He ground-axe attack also no longer flies across the field, it just is summoned at a fixed point and tries to hit 3 times. Conversely, λ-11 has more close-range standard attacks, and is even more agile than ν-13 was in this regard, so she removes ν-13's previous weakness to close-ranged fighting IMO.

The two new characters in place at start are Tsubaki and Hazama (those who beat BB's Story Mode will know who they are). Both feel like fun, combo ready, agile characters, Tsubaki with a nice, flexible combination of rushes and mid-range assaults and Hazama a little more up close but with tons of mechanics to help him get there. I'm still figuring out Hazama at this time but Tsubaki is very "quarter circle" friendly.

I plan on starting the story mode in earnest this evening so I'll probably post more as I go. Looking forward to unlocking μ-12 once I finish all the story modes!!

She looks something like this:

ORIGINAL BLAZBLUE SPOILER WARNING

Pretty sure yes. My guess is that something happens in Continuum Shift that causes her true identity as one of the Murokomo Units to awaken. I've read in a review that someone described μ-12 as "A character whose very existence is a spoiler." So yeah, as Noel is one of my favorite BB characters, I cannot wait to figure out what's going on here!

END SPOILER WARNING

I was not originally intending on picking this up, at least not right away. It's still pretty down on my list of "to get" games but I was more impressed by it then I thought I would be by the short time I played it at Adam's. First off it seems like a lot of characters got a nice buff. In particular Bang felt like he got a huge buff and we all know my love for our favorite crazy "ninja" Bang. Taking a quick glance around the Internet, most people seem to agree, even to the point that he's the new top tier character to play. Not that the Interweb peoples are really a credible source but he seems to at least be pissing folks off. This of course makes me happy since Bang, while fun, felt fairly weak to play as in the original. I think in general he can take and deal a lot more damage. His new distortion drive is nice but feels limited. You either need to be right next to him or catch an opponent above him. Looks really cool and is pretty easy to pull off so I'm kinda mixed on it. His Astral Heat is still impossible to pull off.

Am glad to see that everyone's Astral Heat is available from the start, as opposed to needing to beat Arcade with a character to unlock it.

Hazama (::rage::) and Tsubaki were pretty fun to play. I can already think of some amusing ways to play Tsubaki, what with her book shield and "comrade" color skin. Feel free to also take that as a sexual inneuendo.

One thing that annoys me though is the whole DLC characters thing with this game. I mean, it's cool that we're getting more stuff and the game is already at a reduced price, so once all the characters are out and if you got them it'd still end up being a good deal for a new game. But it still is rather annoying. I don't like the fact that I may be limited in my character choices or that my opponent's are cause I paid for new characters while they didn't and vice versa. It just doesn't seem fair.

I'm still not sure where I stand on the DLC characters thing.

On the one hand, I prefer my fighting games be everyone is unlocked from the word go, pretty much without exception. Having to unlock μ-12 is annoying, but admittedly I was going to beat the game's story mode someday anyway, so it's not like they're asking me to do something I wasn't.

On the other hand, I do like when I have the 'option' of buying additional content for a game I really like, and about the only thing I can think of that a fighting game could give me to encourage that is new characters. My irritation at that decision is going to depend entirely on how powerful Makoto, Valkenhiem and who-cares are when they come out. If they're uber competitive and you have to have them to compete, then yes it's BS. If it's more like they're good, but you can totally win against them with the given characters, then meh, extras are extras and if you don't want them, don't buy them.

Beat this tonight. You know what, maybe you guys shouldn't get this. Because Mu-12 is too awesome to not play her all the time now, and you all are going to HATE me for it.

Still not sure when Valkenhein is dropping (maybe he's out now?) but I found this SICK vid of him being played vs Hazama!
