So here's my To-Do list for the near future in Guild Wars I've decided:

  1. Protector of Cantha: While it'll be a bitch, my Assassin is only 3missions away from getting master rewards on all of Factions.  This will be what I'm primarily worried about doing in my "Solo time."
  2. Clear Nightfall with new character:  I've decided that I do want to do Nightfall to get my 5th Title trophy (and therefore 3 points), and do it with some sort of Paragon or Dervish so as to flesh out my skill list for either.  While I'd prefer to primary either D or P, I am okay with secondaring them instead if people are interested in giving Nightfall a cruise with me for "party balance" sake.  Currently leaning Dervish since they're the one I really haven't figured out, though P/W or W/P is another thing I'm strongly considering.
  3. Get a Pheonix: Gonna talk to a dude, make my A/Mo a A/R, buy charm animal, go beat Shiro again, and pick up the Pheonix at Divine path.  2 points:  1 point for pet statue, another for a rare pet statue.
  4. 5 more mini pets: I gotta double check the rest of my alts and make sure I can't squeeze 5 more Mini pets.  If I can, that'll put me at 20 for 2 more HoM Points.
  5. Continue to farm platinum in down time: If I can do the absurd and actually acquire about 150 Platinum I can buy my elite kurzick armor for Mokoto and land myself 2 more points for 3 armors & Kurzick armor w/o having to PvP.

If I can get all that done, I'll be up 9 more points, putting me at 18 points, which would be slick.

It should be noted that all the while I'll be more than happy to help others with their own to-do lists (like, continuing to help Nate & Steph with Factions).

Also regarding alts, if people have things they'd like to work on that's not "Stressful endgame content" sometime, I do have the follow alt projects I can work with people on:

Prophecies:

Aurora Spellsong - Me/Mo 10, just hit Yak's Bend.  Currently mixed, will probably do either illusion or domination with a touch of smite when I'm done with her.

Factions:

Reiko Katsujiken - Mo 6 (no secondary yet), still in n00b island, Dedicated healer.  Will gladly delete and re-roll if someone wanted to start at 1.

Nightfall:

Sorena Moonstrider - R/P 19, practically done with "n00b island" - was being played with Nate and Steph's D and P at one point.

Anari Crimson - D/Mo 6, future uncertain.  might delete, might not.

Protector of Cantha:

For a moment, I initially read that as "Protector of Canada" and wondered why you suddenly were a mountie.

Protector of Canth..waitaminute...

Nah, I earned that title a while ago.  See?  They give out this cool hat in when you earn it!

Also, yeah - double lockpick and double lucky status this weekend?  We TOTALLY need to try and do some vanquishing this weekend.  NEEDS TO HAPPEN.

Update!  Two big things happened last night.

  1. I am now in a small guild called Local Fighters Guild [LFG].  Met the guy who invited me trying to do the Factions mission Eternal Grove and get a Masters Award.  He liked the cut of my jib, let me in.
  2. Also, I am now a Protector of Cantha. The guy who invited me helped with two of the missions, learned a real groovy way to break Glaya Hatchery.

Now it's on to Nightfall/getting a rare pet/farming plat for Kurzick armor/continuing to Vanquish and provide mission support to you guys.

Found a guide to playing Monk for Guild Wars 1 on the wiki site last night in an effort to make my healing heroes better.  It's an interesting read and I think while some of it is obvious, others would help make an even better healer out of them.

Does make me wonder how much easier some of the stuff we're attempting would be if we had a human-driven healer with us.

Depending on where and what it is you're working on, I might be able to develop a build for a healing monk and help you all out if need be. I mean I've been looking for a challange in that game, and to be honest, I've never actually worked all that hard at monking (being that I've had Evan as a secondary healer and Tania as a tank).

What we really hurt for a player-healer for is Vanqishing and Titan quests, specifically "The Last Day Dawns."  Our AI Monks just bite the big one, especially for "The Last Day Dawns" even when we walk a 6man party all the way down there.

That being said, I really could fork over the 7 platinum it'd take to buy that many monk skills for my E to turn her into a primary healer, given that some one else out of our normal 4 can turn up the DPS to match.  What scant word of mouth I've heard indicates my theory of Energy-Storage based elementalists/monks set to healing/protection are actually quite good.

So I couldn't sleep, so I thought I'd log in to Guild Wars and poke a bit at my Dervish.  I entered the explorable area, ready to try "Down on the Bayou" again when I noticed something bizzare.

Chilling Victory.  It required Adrenaline.  Dervishes never required Adrenaline for any of their skills before - they were a melee-energy-based class like Assassin.  I also had enchantments with blue borders instead of green ones.

I was confused.  Extremely confused.  In an effort to figure out what happened, I found this post on the Guild Wars site regarding their comlpete rework of the Dervish class.

I've not read the complete redesign, and frankly I'm still so new to Dervish that they mention reworks to a lot of skills I have yet to see, let alone understand how their redesign work.  However, based soley off of what bit I've read, I'm very impressed.

First, I'm impressed that the Guild Wars team took the time to complete re-evaulate one of their classes from one of the expansion of their previous title while they are in full development of the sequel.

Second,  I'm impressed the re-work is as thoughtful as it is.  They seemed to really want to try and find a better defined team role for the dervish to fill without kicking other classes out of there's, and while simultaneously making the dervish less confusing to play.

Most importantly, as stated these changes feel very thoughtful, as opposed to 'band-aid fixes' like those seen to adjust the 'balance' in a certain other online RPG I quit playing.  The team could have simply 'buffed' dervishes to try and make them more appealing to the player community, but instead of just taking that easy path, they really tried to evaluate what it was about them that made them not tick and adress those issue.  I'd love it if thses changes bring Dervishes back into the PvP scene, a place I haven't seen them since Nightfall's release  (not that I've been playing real close attention mind you).

I look forward to trying these new changes in the future and getting back to you with my thoughts!  For now I think reading those patch notes might have finally made me tired.

Oh man, maybe I need to try Dervish! Point Blank AoE Caster is what I was trying (unsuccessfully) to do with the Necro-warrior.
