As an aside, I need more hours in my day so I don't have to choose between maintaining/improving my LoL game vs building up a StarcraftII game.

Any champs/types of champs in particular you want to see this build work against?

*shrugs* Anyone. Xin Zhao or that stupid Vlad the Blood Elf guy particularly since I was hating them the most last I played. I'm more worried about the group fight phase of the game, or very late end of the laning phase than anything early game.

Patch notes for 1.0.0.100 are up. Some interesting stuff in there - most of it I don't like personally but probably was important to the state of the meta-game in some way I'm not familiar with yet.

The thing I'm most happy about is Miss Fortune. They've added another Ranged-DPS-Carry to the game and I can't wait to try her out. I've attached the champion spotlight below. She sounds like she'll play a bit like a mix between Tristana and Ezreal, using the AD and multi-target damage of Trist mixed with the rapid ability spamming of Ez, and lacking the whole skill shot thing. Not sure how I feel about her passive, might be great for laneing but probably lame for team fights.

There are two bummers. The first is no one can use their teleports while "rooted" anymore. This bums me out as using teleports to escape CC was part of what I liked about those kinds of champions and, IMO, limits the point of 'hit-and-run' attacks, not to mention makes roots possibly overpowered.

The update that is possibly infuriating is this update:
  • Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverser, Infinite Duress and Nether Grasp now properly suppress and stun their targets.
  • Suppression prevents summoner spells from being cast, and makes the ability immune to duration reduction effects such as that granted by Mercury's Treads.


I don't like the idea that some champion's ults get to be completely un-counter-able while others can still be easily escaped. I imagine the thinking here is the casting champion is rooted into place while casting the ability so it's not fair to them if someone flashed or cleansed out and got free shots on them during the attack's duration, but personally I think the better solution would have been to have it cancel the ult at that point.

*sigh* I dunno I guess the more I think about it the more I can understand why they did it but as someone who doesn't play Urgot, Warwick, or Malzahar, I don't like the idea that if someone position reversals or Infinate Duress's me all I can do is sit and take it, especially since I seem to most enjoy playing squishy champions who don't take either of those attacks very well.

Wow that's incredibly lame. Seriously I can't flash out of rooted? Oh look suppression stops that too? Well why don't I just fucking take it off my summoner spell list? Never thought I'd say that. Merc. Threads don't affect suppression? Wow, thanks for negatting it's tooltip on what it exactly does. I think this really just make roots overpowered and we'll see teams made up of nothing but champs with those abilities.

Champion's who got supression can go cry in a corner if they're complaining that their ult's are counterable. It's called paying attention and knowing when to use your abilities. Lots of champs ults will get wasted cause they're skill shots or someone played smart and got out of the way. What probably annoys me more is this opens the door for future champions to take full advantage of this new status effect and knowing Riot they will put it on a lot of new champs.

These changes probably aren't as bad as I'm thinking they are and in the end might only be minor, but on initial run down of them it just sounds bad. It's fixing people's inability to pay attention with mechanics that hurt the smart player and helps someone who really just needs to learn to use their champs skills properly. I guess I'll just see how it plays out in the end

On the positives, Miss Fortune looks like fun. I may pick her up. Additionally, I like the new Zilean skin. Not a huge fan of turbans but I like the stone clock and red robes.

QFT. Death Lotus is still the only ultimate in the game that has a duration that you can accidentally self-cancel and waste the damn thing. Even other champions with "channeled" ults, like EZ's Trueshot Barrage, can't be canceled by the user clicking to move somewhere.

The thing is I don't think Warwicks, Urgots, and Malzahar's were "complaining" as much as Riot noticed they had fallen out of top tier. I think this an effort to buff them so they actually get played again (I haven't seen a Malzahar in like forever).

I also can't believe this "while rooted" buff applies to long-range teleports too. Specifically why does it work on "Stand United?" How is Shen supposed to properly help and support his team mates if he just happens to be in Dark Binding when he goes to jump across the map to save some one?

I wonder if the point of this change is for it to be an indirect Ryze buff?

Heh, funny note on the Nidalee "Pounce can no longer be cast while rooted" change. You could cast it before but I'm positive it didn't actually move you anywhere. Just jumped you up and down and did damage to the things around you.

Guardian Angel now revives Champions at 750 health and 375 mana instead of 40% health and mana.

Wow! Talk about a nerf to that item! Not that I didn't think it was kinda overpowered before, but I bet we see a ton less of these now.

This is a nerf I can get behind. I've read a few articles that explain why Garen's so popular right now and stacking health and then one of these so you basically have to do an absurd amount of damage to him all while he gets to continue unleash mana-free beat down. It's to the point that in ColdTurkey's latest vid (Morgana) he says the line "and you never start by focusing Garen." I'm really hoping this nerf and maybe some others soon put a stop to the tank/tanky-dps heavy team builds we keep seeing over and over again. Then again no, they can keep doing that, and Ren can keep running Kog'Mah for us and own them for their insolence.

Actually, with how health-based people's teams have been lately, I wonder why we don't see more Olaf - he's an anti-tanker too...

Poppy's kinda anti-tank with her Devestating Blow ability. I was actually thinking of attempting to run her at some point to give that a try.

Once again though, Zilean continues to be useful so why fix what's not broke?

Phreak just tweeted the WCG Finals for League of Legends. (It's Ustream so I can't embed them w/o abusing admin privilege, which I might ADMIN POWERS SUPER GO). Dominion and I watched these on Saturday and they are both INCREDIBLE matches. Give them a watch!
