I love #LeagueofLegends on Twitter. So many fun and interesting discoveries from the community of people who use both.

Latest discovery is a What champ should you play" quiz. The thing is, this isn't like those cute, cliche Facebook "what character are you in WoW" things that gives you a forum signature - it actually asks you play style questions and scores your compatibility with every champ in the game.

My results on it have been interesting so far. First pass Nidalee won for me with 11pts, and I remember champs like Miss Fortune and Katarina and Ashe coming in 3rd.

Second pass I tried to be more decisive with my answers (as per the quiz's advice) and got 10pts: Miss Fortune; 9pts: Pantheon; 8pts: Malphite, Poppy, TF, Kennen, Ezreal; 6pts: Vlad, Teemo, Ashe, Katarina, Ryze, Urgot, Jax. By contrast Nidalee only had 3 points, and my man Garen racked up 5. All of the tanks except Shen and Urgot scored very low, if not negative.

It's interesting the informed results I'm getting but I find that I have a varied enough play style that the results will never be 100% accurate.

EDIT: added a link to the quiz.

Do you have the actual link to the quiz? I've got no idea how far I'd actually have to dig through that twitter feed to find it.

Sweet Jesus I suck I had meant to post the link to the quiz and forgot

Oh also, Ashe and Tryndamere apparently are now married?!?!?!, and their unified people now live in Ashe's homeland, Freljord, which is now a City-State protected by the League?

First time I did it I got Zilean as the first followed by Nidalee. Second time I still got Zilean as number one tied with Pantheon with Nidalee next in line.

That being said a couple of those questions just confuse me. Do you hate the sun? Do you want to make your enemies trudge through mud? I don't know what those mean. Do I hate the sun as in do I hate Twisted Fate's reveal all champs? As for mud, do they mean do I like laying stationary AoE templates on the ground that aren't channeled?

But yeah, apparently I need to try Pantheon.

Yeah I got Nidalee a lot. Twitch and Zilean tended to show up in the 4 or 5's. Shen was at the top my first time, which I do enjoy playing him. Anivia showed up a lot in the top 5. I went and took a look at Anivia's abilities and I'm now convinced I've never played with a decent Anivia. I should give her a try.

Okay so, I'm about to get all League of Theory for a moment on team building. Bear with me.

SO, once again I'm finding League of Legends to be another game where meta can get in the way of having fun. I'm reminded of what Gabe talked about on Penny Arcade when he was talking about Pokemon and thought the kids who were playing the game with the pokemon they liked because "they were cute" had the right idea. Ever since then I've wanted to go back to playing games that way, but the desire for victory really makes it too easy to break into deep meta thinking.

I want to say that's possible for us to win LoL matches AND have tons of fun in the process while playing our favorite champions, but it does seem team composition and ability complimenting have a lot of weight and importance, at that sadly means, much like in an RPG, we can't all be OP rogues.

This is wherein we reach the one glaring issue I have with this game. I have yet to play a game of LoL PvP where I was the tank and I enjoyed it. It's an often thankless, painful role to play, and therefore I hate to make anyone do it. But I know that if we roll into a match without one, unless we have tons of AoE we'll get roflstomped like no one's business.

The other problem is of the champs I would actually like to play on a regular basis (Ashe, Garen, Katarina, Miss Fortune, Ezreal, Pantheon, maybe Sona, Vlad, and/or Morgana) there's not a ton of CC.

This was gonna be post where I thought up possible team comps but I seem to have gotten side tracked... uh...

Right okay so, some raw thinking:

TANKS:
I think Ramus is good start with this taunt that never ends and Tremors being a great AoE capability. Really no need to change that unless MonkeyLord is starting to feel otherwise.

Decent replacement is of course Shen with his AoE taunt. Xin'Jhao would probably be a solid pick up too between the AoE slow, the AoE ult which is great for init, and the constant knocking of enemy champs into the air. I'd assume Galio wouldn't be terrible, but I've not played him much.

DPS:
Warwick, Evealynn, and Pantheon all immediately jump at me as solid melee DPS champs to add to our teams. Each have access to at least one completely bad-ass stun and are also solid at wreaking enemy champs. Kassadin's aoe silence is also good stuff. Either way, I do think if we run a team with more DPS than just a 'carry' we do need a "Jumper" so we have someone who can pop in behind enemy lines and destroy enemy carries before they get fed.

Annie, Fiddlesticks, and Vlad all jump at me as solid spell DPS champs to consider. All have ample access to CC (Annie's stuns, Fiddle's fears, Vlad's bloodpool slows). Malzahar, Karthus, and Anivia also seem good choices on paper, but I'm iffy on if any of us know those champs well enough to do get it right in execution yet.

Then there's the matter of the Ranged Carry - which I'm growing less and less convinced we need. At this tier level I feel like we're just as likely to get a deadly fed spell DPSer than we are a traditional carry. They're still solid so I'm not saying we have to run without, but I can't make up I mind if we need CC from this role. My personal thought is that Ashe is probably still the Queen at this role, though Miss Fortune is better at countering other carries and Ezeral still has more team-fight friendly DPS output. Then there's Kog'Maw who is so solid that people just have to deal with it.

SUPPORT:
Janna, Morgana, and Taric. Both Janna's tornado and her ult are solid stuff for knocking teams around, Morgana's Dark Binding and Corrupted Soil offer solid CC and AoE on short cooldown, and Taric provides solid defense, outstanding heals, and a ranged stun. Sona sounds good on paper and I've seen her do some good stuff, but I think it's a bit early to tell on her.

I also want to add Zilean and Hiemer to this list, not because they provide hard CC but because their support functions are too beneficial to ignore. Especially Zilean with the whole rewinds and slows and chrono shifts.

So running off those available champs what kind of kick ass teams can we build and maybe still find champs people like to play?

My first stab at doing this:
Rammus & Janna -> Top; Vlad -> Mid; Pantheon & Ashe -> bot;

Another idea:
Cho'gath (tank), Katarina, Vlad, [Supporter], Xin'Jhao (DPS) Strat: Cho goes in, and inits. As the team comes to him, he knocks them in the air, and screams them when they land. Vlad Hemoplauge's them while they're airborne and then Kat shunpo's in and death lotus. Xin rushes in last, using his charge slow and knock ups to stop fleeing champs from getting away. I left the [supporter] blank because I could see Nidalee, taric, Janna or Sona adding the necessary buffs to defense or damage or healing or CC or whatever we'd need to make that work, though Janna'd need to be careful to not ruin the plan by ultin' at the wrong time.
