Monkey, what the hell is going on in your life right now?  Like, I'm just wondering because you apparently are taking tests, but you also buy expensive cars.  I don't know if I've just forgotten or what, but I'm wondering what's up in your life and what you're doign these days, because I apparently have NO fucking clue.

If bananas have potassium, do potatoes have banassium? 6th graders are like sentient balloons. Drifting in any direction, at any speed when given any provocation.

Headstart!  Starts in 10 days (ish)!  I want to make sure I understand what the plan is here.

First! are we rolling mains to play on our own time, AND THEN also rolling characters to keep level sync'd?   OR are we playing our mains at our own pace and playing together when we can?

Second!  Kinda depends on the first, but what are we going to do about the disparate starting zones and the strong and stronger sounding possibility that all 3 of us are about to roll Jedi Shadows?

So far I'm apparently going to have like three different characters so...no clue?

This is my concern with the previously stated plan.  At the end of the day unless we're all going to play this game by avoiding the end game, at some point we're going to need to designate a main, and it might not work so well to do that if we have so many character projects going at once.

At the same time, this game is just awful about what it does to your group if you aren't close or sync'd in level so I see the point to trying to have a group close to the same level.

This is a concern Kitty has also mentioned.  She's thinking about picking up the game (hasn't yet) but ALSO knows full well she won't have the time to play it that the rest of us will so will inevitably be left behind which will then suck for her.  If she ends up getting it then that's potentially another character I'd have to roll.

Also, if we are going to go through the trouble of having a sync'd group, that group should be balanced shouldn't it?

Headstart is slated to begin as early as the 13th.  We really need to sort this out.

I intend to roll at least one character and play at my own pace. I'd be happy to roll one or two characters to level with folks, but they will be a casual alt. Trying to level sync with everyone across our group would be impossible. It is hard enough having a character to play with Mark and Colleen in WoW together. We so rarely all get to play at the same time that nothing gets done on them, so instead I ended up with three characters; one for Mark&Colleen&me, one for Mark&me, and one for soloing. So yeah, I think solo characters should be mains with how ever many alts one feels comfortable with for leveling with whomever they choose, or none if they don't want to. Enjoy the game at your own pace, IMO.

That being said... Damnit, when is an MMO going to give you a way to scale your character down to a lower level/gear so you can play your may at any content level with your friends at any time without having to roll a hojillion characters!?

This.  This is more or less just what I was afraid of.   This is why I want this to be more of a "mains are solo" project.

IF they do what they promise, that MMO is called Guild Wars 2.

At this point my plan is this:

Main: Jedi Councilor -> Shadow in DPS/Assassin spec.  If I find that annoying I'm switching to the more tanky spec.

For the sake of building a balanced Alt-party, if we DO want to do that,  I'd like to snatch up Republic Trooper -> Commando if we need heals or Republic Trooper -> [the other one] if we need Tanks.  If we need DPS I'll do Jedi Knight -> Dual saber or maybe a gunslinger smuggler.  I really enjoyed playing Imperial Agent but I don't think I'd enjoy Smuggler's storyline nearly as much.

On second thought I think the Commando is both Heals and DPS so if the DPS is sufficent maybe I'll just stick to that.
