Played the trial for WH40K: Kill Team on my Xbox360 with the GF on 360 last night. It's a short trial, but overall fun. I recommend it to anyone who is a general fan of 40k, and definitely to 40k fans who also like top-down co-op action games.

In it you (and up to one other friend) play as a two man Kill-Team sent onto an Ork ship to destroy it before it can reach a Forge World. You choose to play as one of 4 different space marines (Sternguard Veteran w/ heavy weapons, Veteran Assault, Librarian, and Techmarine) and you can even choose your chapter for flavor (And of course, my favorite Sons of Sanguineous are available).

The game controls like a twin-stick shooter. You steer with the left stick and point the right stick in the direction of things you want to die. There's also a melee button and a dash, and every character has a special move they can do when they deal enough damage. These moves are massively helpful, and as you play you unlock new upgrades for your Kill Team, like more health or bonus melee damage. What you unlock seems to be based on what you use, so use what you want to win! :)

The only bummer is, at least for local co-op, only Player One earns achievements for gameplay, which is a total bummer. I guess the reason behind this is because it sounds like Kill Team's Achievements might affect the upcoming third-person shooter "Space Marine," in that it will give you unlocks, they probably figure they don't want people piggybacking off each other for it. Still it sort of discourages multiplayer a little which strikes me as counter productive.

The GF and I are pretty sure we're gonna buy the full version soon, though we might wait until we finish Dungeon Siege 3 to do so. Again, if you have a system that will run it I recommend giving the demo a try, especially if you've got a buddy to help you play it locally!

I'd get it, but as I understand from the reviews, no online multiplayer?

Holy *%#$! This game looks incredible - and the control-scheme you described sounds a lot like two of my all-time favorite wii-games (Geometry Wars: Galaxies, and "Sin and Punishment 2"). What system(s) is this game for?

So far it sounds like it's 360/PS3 only.  can't find any evidence of a PC version.  Sorry :(

As for online multi I didn't try.  It'd be suprising though understandable if they didn't do it.

As per Google+, it sounds a lot like Alien Syndrome that Adam and I played for the Wii (but never finished) which was a pretty darned fun game. I don't know that I'd buy it for just myself as multiplayer sounds where it is at, but I'd definitely pick it up and leave it at Mark's place to play over there with him. It is my turn to buy a game the two of us share anyway!
