So I heard a new song on the radio the other day and thought "Hey I haven't heard this Disturbed song before" only to find out it's by some band called Device. When looking it up, apparently Disturbed's singer started up a new project while they were on hiatus and released a new album earlier this month. For those missing Disturbed you can get a sample of the album here (Vergil totally found their soundcloud after chatting about it with him). I personally am a fan and will pick up the album later. I'm happy to see Disturbed can at least live on in this new band should they call it quits.

So seeing the Ghost Song stuff today has put me in the mood for something sorta creepy and bit-tune sounding.  Aside from Hero Core's sound track (which you should TOTALLY CHECK OUT even if you haven't played the game itself, though you should play the game itself.) I'm not sure where to find that.  Any suggestions?

Since I'm necro'ing this thread, I might as well go ahead and recommend the sound tracks to Hotline Miami and Pacific Rim in case you haven't been listening to them.

Interesting thing about 2013: Fall Out Boy, Queens of the Stone Age, and Daft Punk all released albums this year, and the last time they had a new album come out was 2008, 2007, and 2007 respectively.

You could count 2010/2011 for Daft Punk if you include the Tron stuff, but I was just going with work done by the artists for their own band officially as opposed to soundtracks, collaborations, solo albums and other things.  The people in those bands have been working during those years, they just haven't done an "album by this band" in that time, really.  Just kind of interesting is all.

Also, apparently Soundgarden's new album last winter was their first studio album since 1996.

And Stone Temple Pilots now has Chester Bennington (!) as their lead singer.

..........and I'm going to stop my downward spiral into Wikipedia now, I swear.

EDIT: Actual recommendations!
Random Access Memories is good, a lot more organic than Daft Punk's other albums (they basically didn't use any of the electronic equipment that they typically do) but it's not the hard core dance stuff I absolutely love.  If you haven't picked up Alive 2007 and you like electronica, do it now.  It won a Grammy, for heaven's sake.
...Like Clockwork is pretty solid, more good Queens of the Stone Age.  If you liked them before, you'll probably like this album as well.
Save Rock and Roll has 2 awesome songs on it and a bunch that will probably grow on me.  A little more pop-y than some previous albums.  Interesting thing: they appear to be taking all their songs off this album and making a series of music videos to tell a story.  Only 4 out of the 11 are out so far.  Reminds me of how American Idiot is actually an opera of a sorts.

Just in case this wasn't said here, Daft Punk's Random Access Memories is brilliant.  I can't remember the last time I heard an album so funky and I meant that as a GOOD THING.

Ok, so generally I'm super into The Black Keys, Queens of the Stone Age, and The Foo Fighters.  However Stephy and a friend on bookface have made me more aware of how awesome Macklemore is.  I generally don't follow hipo hop, and I'm probably not going to be a huge fan, but Macklemore is apparently the shit.  Yeah, the guy from "Thrift Shop" is apparently super fucking cool.

Proof is in the puddin:

His couple of year old song about White privilege and his recent song about gay rights:

So - not normally one to get into the whole soundtrack thing - but Tom (my frined in Japan) pointed out the AI War OST included in the Arcen Games Humble Bundle and how awesome it was.

Thusfar EVERY track i've listened to has been incredibly good!

Here's one of my favorites:

Linkin Park is apparently having a remix album drop in late October called Recharged.  Here's hoping it's as sweet as Reanimation was.

Also there's this song that's now out to promote their....video game?  Might explain why the official video is just a lyrics video.
