So this has been driving me nuts for 2-3 hours now. I'm trying to find a song and all I have to go off of is what it sounded like.

http://vocaroo.com/i/s0Bl4MZtTNS4

^My best attempt at humming the background loop/theme.

It's definitely an older track, and it has a verydisco-ish beat to it. It actually sounds a little like "Stayin' Alive" by the BeeGee's, but with the rhythm I hummed out rather than that one. There are some words in the song here and there, but I have no idea whatsoever what's being said since it's in a higher pitched male voice and ... I kinda just overheard this in a store.

So I'm on the point of giving up my searching and figured I'd just take a stab hopeing one of y'all recognized it?

No, sadly it is not :(. It definitely pre-dates this by ... a lot. But thanks for the attempt!

And apparently this is a thing. I probably shouldn't be surprised.

I have to share this music video.

Guys, I'm 32.  The NES came to the US almost 30 years ago now.  Why has it taken until now for someone to make something like this?

Petroglyph helped out with another game, this one Victory Command (hypothesis, this is where the unused End of Nations material ended up).  While the idea of an RTS moba like this doesn't really excite me, Frank Klepacki doing more music does!

Few of things to share.

First - for fans of Hotline Miami, or at least it's music, I believe both BountyHunter and I's favorite tracks from the sequel are by Carpenter Brut ("Le Perv" and "Roller Mobster").  Well it turns out Perturbator worked with him on a track called "Complete Domination" which I want someone to use as a last boss fight or last stage BGM because oh my god.

Second, and this is more for anyone interested, I recently stumbled into "The Anix" through Google Play recommendations and have been digging their album "Sleepwalker."  Here's my favorite track from that album.  It's more stuff in the style of rock+electronica which is a mix that can keep on going for a while as far as I am concerned.

Last: You know what works surprisingly well for dogfighting in space?  The Max Max:Fury Road soundtrack.  "Brothers in Arms" works surprising well since it has both a mix of danger and triumph in one track.

O_O F*** me Adam, it's been YEARS since I've been so inspired to craft a gaming experience based purely on a sound as I'm feeling right now!

I'm thinking a shmup which -in the vein of ikaruga- sees you moving through the bowels of a massive ship with sound-synchronized coordinated enemy wave patterns coming at you from time to time. And through it all the mid-boss/main boss popping in and out to punctuate "dramatic" moments of music with special fire. . . before settling in to taking him out +/- the battleship core.

Or - and I know this is completely different - a speed oriented level in which you're jumping from insanely fast verticlaly scrolling train to train where each one you just dismounted promptly smashes against some form of obstruction and explodes into debris while machine-gun fire and thugs-on-trains abound.

Or a contra-esque -- only with infinite lives -- level-long run&gun ending with an "elevator fight" where one guy takes on a whole army.

:P

Great find!
