Anyone interested in participating in a playtest of the new Star Trek RPG coming out next year should respond to this thread.  We have 12 pregenerated characters, seven openings, and two, maybe three interested parties, so we're looking for as many as four to five more.  Three is enough to play.  Ren wants to run it, and it should be a one-shot session, maybe 4-6 hours.  We'll settle on a day when we know who will be playing.

The game is set in the 24th century (TNG/DS9/VOY) and not in Abramstrek.  The adventure is called The Rescue at Xerxes 4 and involves a recovering a downed shuttlecraft and its crew from hostile territory.  There are 12 pregenerated characters, two for each specialty (Command, Conn, Engineering, Security, Science, and Medicine) and from a selection of Federation races (Human, Denobulan, Andorian, Tellarite, Vulcan, and Trill).

The playtest documents are located here.  I'm sure I don't need to tell anyone not to read the adventure.  :)

I'm a Trek fan and a fan of role playing. I'd be down.

Put me down as interested with the normal caveats of availability once we figure out the "when."  There's certainly enough character archetypes in Star Trek I could have fun with to be flexible for this one.

EDIT: Actually going over the playtest characters I'm seeing a lot more races I cannot play (Andorians, Tellarites, Denobulans) than I was expecting among the playtest characters (really though 1 Vulcan, 1 Trill and 2 Andorians?  What?) so maybe I'm less flexible than I thought.

I know little about the system, and less because there are no character generation rules in the alpha packet, but at least for the purposes of this playtest, considering that the pairs of pregens from the same race have nothing in common with each other, I think it's safe to say that you could say your character is a Tholian and it wouldn't matter.

Given that it's just a playtest, I don't see much harm in flipping a set of stats you like to a different race for easy of roleplaying, if that's necessary.

Also, Nate, you're welcome to play a Tribble, with all the advantages (none) and problems (many) that involves.

As soon as they publish rules for it.

This sounds like a lot of fun so color me interested / intrigued. Issues: I have a major exam (my boards) 4/27th and scattered interviews and other blockouts to my schedule. If I end up being 'that one guy' that can't find a date/time to commit to then I understand if I end up not being able to participate.

Otherwise, sounds awesome and would love to be in!

I'd be down if you need more people!  I've watched a lot of Star Trek and would enjoy attempting to roleplay in the setting.

The playtest adventure can support up to 7, I believe, so I think we should be good. I'm sure I can squeeze in an extra if need be. We need to start looking at a day, I believe. At the moment the only really good day for me would be Saturday, afternoon or evening, or a Friday evening, and I know that's rarely optimal for people.

Do you mean this week Saturday in specific? Will need to check with my wife, but I do have the day open!

Do you mean Saturdays in general?
