Nate and I should be there and are game for most things.  Unfortunately we are not terribly far in Monster Hunter, so we might not be much help for that, but other stuff would probably be ok!

So I'd like to do a mass co-op multiplayer for a b-day game. I've looked into a few options and I'd like to try:

Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop.

This game is:
* Free to play
* On Steam.
* Up to 8 players (and missing player slots can be filled by bots, or left empty.).

Monkey and I did a couple levels on easy. It has a bit of a Helldivers feel to it (top down action, a few objectives to reach per map in a campaign-series of missions). It's definitely more linear than Helldivers, though. And a definite focus on roles (Medic, Tech/Engineer, Leader, Attack/assault) to try to prop up more squad-tactics to deal with the deluge of bug-aliens that swarm you. Also, unlike Helldivers, we're allowed to be 'off screen' of each other, so having a larger party size should still be manageable.

It's ~4GB. There's ~6campaigns each with several levels . . . so plenty of content. Plus Steam Workshop if we end up actually really enjoying this game and wanting even moar content.

I found the game intuitive enough (and the pop-up "press '*' key" messages plentiful enough) to get me going without needing a tutorial. Specs required seem quite low; so I'm really hoping a bunch of us can get in on the action.

For maximum visibility, will mention this on Discord also but yeah - if we can get enough folk in, that'd be my pick.

-AHMAD

PS: Otherwise there's always Monsters to hunt, Stars to craft, Sonics to race, etc. etc. :P.

Downloading now!

EDIT: Weird, the game has no video options. First time I've ever seen a bandwidth option, though.

Wait, I thought it did?

Will have to check when I get home tonightW; but I recollect changing the resolution and there being a full-screen vs. Windowed option for sure. I think I remember an advanced graphics option, but sketchier on that.

I couldn't get my taskbar to not cover up the bottom of the screen until I made it full screen

I will be out of country at this time and probably unable to attend.

For the sake of clarity there have been multiple games called Alien Swarm. BountyHunterSAx means this one right?

Yay! Your first Brazilian game night :-). although I do realize that statistically you actually it won't have the ability to attend. Still super happy for grace and for you.

And yes, that is the alien swarm game I was talking about. Alien swarm reactive drop.

Thanks for the steam link :-)

Downloaded, installed, and played a mission.  Ran just fine, so I'm ready to go.

EDIT: Just watched Nate solve a door puzzle as a tech guy.  I played a sort of special weapons shoot 'em up lady, so maybe I'll try out some more missions and dink around with the different types of people to get a better feel for the roles.

Whelp, I may end up having a hockey game this night to goto. Someone sent out a request, I initially rejected but they stated they got no one at the moment so I told them I'd go if no other goalie accepts. It's a late game though so if I do go I'll be around to get a game or two in before leaving at least.
