If bananas have potassium, do potatoes have banassium? 6th graders are like sentient balloons. Drifting in any direction, at any speed when given any provocation.

Now that it's pretty late

I own "most" on each team. I actually play or am learning to play pvp with 3 guys on Noxus Rammus, Miss Fortune and kog'maw.

The Ionia side I've got guys that I've played but don't really know too well.
Also... Space Marine.

Sorry guys, I tried to hop on after hockey but my Internet went to shit for pretty much no reason. Sounds like a lot of folks with Comcast and Time Warner got the shaft for the Internet tonight.

The cursed Ionians have reclaimed their province! At least according to our tests.

Despite Comcast conspiring against us, we still managed to host one match. It was not ideal - I would have liked to have done two, had more time to try and balance teams, been able to have done it on our normal vent, with the previously planned participants, but this was the one time we could do this before Dec 10, and by jove, we pulled it off.

Final Teams

Ionia
Machvergil (30), Renairen (30), Naythor (17), St00f (16), Gaidar (5).
Noxus
MonkeyLord (30), Brocton (29), Archeros(21), Lurial (20), Kitty-Dono (17).

Due to technical limitations (Apparently everyone needs to own AT LEAST 14 champs in order to do Draft Mode and Gaidar, as he just start playing, didn't meet this requirement), we couldn't do a real draft, so instead we just gave each side their bans. Ionia banned Rammus, Noxus was between banning Shen or Amumu and decided to ban Amumu.

Picks (listed in the same order as the players above)
Ionia
Akali, Shen, Master Yi, Irelia, Ashe
Noxus
Singed, LeBlanc, Shaco, Katarina, Morgana

Result

Score for the Ionia vs Noxus Match(Click above for bigger view)

The game was a virtual stalemate at first, with Noxus providing a strong laneing presence across more or less all lanes. By 22 minutes into the match, no towers were down and Noxus lead in team kills. First tower downed was Ionia's outer turret on top lane. Once the team fights began however, Ionia started to turn the match around, being able to capitalize on their victories when they came, and grabbing some solid initations via Ashe's arrow. When the dust settled, Ionia had proven victorious and reclaimed their lost land from the Noxus invaders.

In Closing

I'd like to thank everyone for participating and yes, I totally thing we should try to do something like this again in the future, even if it means making it up ourselves. I think next time we should attempt to plan further ahead, and maybe not do it in such an uncomfortable time of night for eastern time zone, nor time of year for those still in school.

Thanks again for everyone playing and being good sports. Thanks to Luri for helping us find Archeros and we should try and play with him sometime just out of thanks for letting us use his vent.

Further thoughts on strategy that I observed from playing Shen.

1) I got a LOT of farm last game on minions. I had centre lane for a few good spells, and while that meant that Kitty got to nickle and dime my turret because there's no way I could compete with her minion killing speed, between Ki Strike and vorpal blade, I got a lot of gold.

2) We focused Brocton. A lot. (Sorry). Primarily because we saw him building stacks, and he became a priority. LeBlanc starts slow but Q, R, Q, W? Savage. Just savage, especially with stacks from Meijai's.

3) Noxus really suffers with having to go Singed instead of Rammus. Singed just doesn't have as much crowd fighting I think, even with his poison/fling/slowdown goop.

4) After seeing Ashe in action, I would likely ban her now. Admittedly that wasn't an option, and I think most of the Noxus' side wanted to ban her; that would have made for a very different game I think.

Oh good call there, I can't blame you. The damage she pumps out with lots of stacks on that is ridiculous, and yeah, her spell rotation is pretty darned easy. Q, R to mimic Q for extra damage which also triggers Q's secondary effect, then double tap W to zoom in and for more damage and triggering R's aftereffect. The cooldown on that mimicing ultimate is so short.

We were focusing Akali, which worked for a while until team fights got under way in earnest. Then you guys just dominated us. Ash's arrow definitely made for a strong initiate, much stronger than Morgana's Dark Binding. We killed who we could when we could then but were already at a disadvantage. Our reactions to where we needed to be on the map were just too slow to boot. Once you put us on the defensive we just slipped back slowly.

Still, I'm very proud we held you guys for nearly an hour!

Mid lane baby. It does a farmer good.

I can think of a few times when I face checked a bush and said "OH SNAP IT'S LEBLANC" and died shortly after thinking that. It's always unnerving anytime you fight someone and your health bar drops by such huge amounts all at once. We pretty much had no choice.

You know, looking at this again, a quick solution to BOTH problems is to take Sion. At level 5, cryptic gaze has is a 2 second stun every 8 seconds. Imagine if Sion could have landed gaze on Akali, and then Singed flipped her into the middle of their team for FOCUS FIRE FUN TIME. Plus, AP Sion's Death's Caress (the shield) has a 1:1 AP Ratio (If Mobafire is to be believed). If one was to follow this AP Sion build, you might be absorbing 700+ damage on the way in and then doing up to 700+ damage with the shield when it detonates. Imagine of you combined that shield detonation with Morgana's ult, or Singed's aoe slow goop. YIKES!

Sion + Singed probably is a pretty slick combo in general. Sion is kind of a dpsy tank and Singed is just tough as nails, so I imagine putting the two together would give you a pretty solid core around which you can add as many (well 3) squishy DPSers to and get nice results.

THAT BEING SAID, yes, that game proved that Enchanted Crystal Arrow remains one of the best Ults in the game. It's just really hard to top an unlimited ranged stun with no cast time. At that point it really doesn't matter who gets hit with it, just that you have a solid stun to start your team fight with. The AoE slow with it certainly doesn't hurt either!!!

I hope that if we do this again we can choose teams that will result in us not needing to block off bans because yeah, ban Ashe probably would have been a solid move for Noxus if "amg new guy can only play free champs" wasn't a concern. Thank you for understanding.

In much the same way, you had to. When I saw LeBlanc on the loader I realized someone on our team needed to try and match that damage output and the best candidate for that was Akali. I went double snow-ball with both Mejai's and Sword of the Occult. Yeah I was trying to be that Akali. And it only worked because of Shen saving my ass with his Ult, Ashe's arrows, and I'm pretty sure Yi and Irelia each provided me escape routes more than once.

My hat off to Luri and Misharum again. You gave Nathy0r and I a hell of a damn time in our lane.

Still, I'm very proud we held you guys for nearly an hour!

I still maintain, any time you are playing LoL and 20+ minutes in no towers are dead and the team score for both teams is in the single digits, you have a good game on your hands. It's like going into half time in Football to a score of 3 to 3: these teams are evenly matched, and you've probably watched some incredible game on both sides of the ball. It was a solid match, and a fun one at that, so again thank you :)
