Jebus, finally a PC release. I had fun with Destiny gameplay wise so having a PC version where I will hopefully not have to pay some online fee (Xbox Live or PSN bs) to play should be great. Will keep an eye out. Hopefully they also won't get fucked with executive story decisions this time and get to write the story they want.

Already those trailers ooze with more character and personality than the entire original game - at least before I left.

That said yeah - A big part of what kept me out of the original was not wanting to pay XBL fees just to play that.  Again if I had other reasons to keep up PSN or XBL at this point, it'd just be another reason to keep it up, but I don't at this point.  So yeah I hope the PC version is free from those fees, and even moreso would love it if SteamWorks or something like it was worked in instead of us having to get a Bungie.Net type exclusive thing and then pay for that.

There was enough potential in the original for me to want to keep an eye on this but I'm definitely not pre-ordering it.  The original was an okay time, but there's no guarantee that the sequel will fix it's myriad problems.

Nathan Fillion!  Huzzah!  If this ends up being sort of a like a new PSO that is on PC, I might be interested.  I think I have way too many games to play currently though.

FWIW:  Destiny feels more to me like "Halo with RPG elements tacked on" than PSO.  The best part about Destiny as I recall was that the gunplay was very satisfying.  Weapons felt good to use (solid animation, recoil, fun designs), mixed in with your melee attacks and character skills well, so the combat itself was usually satisfying.   The RPG elements were sorta iffy sometimes though, really serving as an excuse to keep grinding for better and better weapons & armor.

I won't deny that I had fun with Destiny but at the time I was playing it lacked staying power.  That lack mostly came from not having a reliable near-nightly group that I could easily rotate through content to keep up progression though.  I can easily see how for the people who do have that it is the right kind of game for them.

My hope for this game is that they keep what's good and fix what's busted.  Better storytelling (which I hear did get better after I left), better class abilities, make the RPG elements more mechanically rewarding (like, make it possible to play a character who relies more on powers than guns, kinda like how ME3 and Andromeda does), make the enemies a bit more satisfying to fight (outside of how satisfying it is to shoot them).

Whaaaaaaaaaaat!?

We want to let everyone know that a new game will be appearing alongside your favorite Blizzard games—one that’s a little different from what you might normally expect. Bungie’s upcoming first-person action game Destiny 2 will be joining the party! We’re excited to announce that we're partnering with Bungie and Activision to support the PC version of Destiny 2 exclusively via Battle.net.

First off: kek Battle.net still, should've just kept that name.

Second off: That's weird. Like, wtf weird. I mean, I don't care cause I play Blizzard games but it seems bizarre to have a non-Blizzard game on their app platform. Makes sense because Activision and using an established infrastructure but it's weird.

Activision must have some data that explains this move.  Putting it on Blizzard will mean fewer sales than if it was Steam, make no mistake, especially if it's exclusive.  That said, Blizzard is a fairly dependable place, and at this point has proven itself a robust platform for both game sales, distribution, and the handling of micro-transactions.  If Activision doesn't want Valve taking any of their earnings from any of that, it makes sense to use this established Launcher than making Bungie code up their own.

Still what an odd move overall, and a big moment since it's the first time (I can think of anyway) that Blizzard Tech is being used to deliver a not-Blizzard game.

I am glad that the PC version is confirmed to have an uncapped framerate.

While all this is critical, more important is proof they are going to fix Destiny 1's biggest problems with boring enemies, repetitive combat, and classes that don't really feel like they have much unique game-play identity.

I just saw an article on Reddit stating that Destiny 2 will not have dedicated servers, instead using a P2P model. Which makes me really sad to hear. The original Destiny looked kinda fun, so I was excited to see a PC version of the second, but that kind of model is really disheartening.
