What you're referring to isn't actually a bug. The "games" topic isn't really a topic as much as it's where in the table all of the discussion threads concerning the games in the "Games" list are stored. Initially I thought displaying it on the Messages section too would be nice to provide an alternative way to get to them, but you're the second person to comment on this so clearly keeping them there is creating a false expectations as to what that's for.

I am considering changing how I handle this, weather it makes more sense to open up the Games topic like a normal forum at the risk of people making topics about games rather than adding them to the database, or locking up that forum and making a new one for just general game discussion. I'll keep you posted.

Huh? Wait, so I see a discussion thread under each game in the games list but I don't see that connected with the games forum. I just looked under Assassin's Creed in the games section of the site and saw an empty discussion thread yet we've clearly talked about it in the games forum.

EDIT: Okay, it seems AC 1 and 2 are the only ones having no discussion show up in the games section of the website.
Also I have a better suggestion, get rid of the discussion threads under the games and just leave the Games forum open for whatever. I find it odd to have to navigate to some other part of the site that isn't the forums to discuss something.

The assassin's creed games not having topic threads under their game page in the games section IS a bug. I'll look into that next time I'm in the site looking at code (Today was my day off of coding for the site >.>). If I had to guess, it's a symptom of the whole apostrophe thing I mentioned earlier that needs looking into.

EDIT: Okay the problem with the Assassin's Creed games fixed.

While you don't look like Skuld, I have a bug to report! (Sorry for the ooooold anime ref) The read/viewed icons in the forums appear to be resetting every time I log in, whether there is new content that requires my attention or not. That being said I think the icons you chose/created are pretty cool and fit the theme nicely. ^^

Before I can diagnose your problem Kitty I need to know the following:

  1. Are you using the "Remember me" function to stay logged in even after closing browser windows?
  2. If so, have you tried logging out and logging back in since I implemented the new-post tracking system?

I am using the remember me. And at the moment (this pass through) it appears to be a level discrepancy issue. In the main area of the messages section, the icons appear accurate, but when I go down a level on a gray topic, say to "Wednesday Night Game Night" etc, all of the messages in there are yellow, despite my having read them.

**Addendum after logging off and logging back in** Now all messages are gray, including the ones I have not yet viewed (for instance I haven't had time to poke around the top two topics. They used to be yellow for me-unread. Now they are gray and I have not yet read them)

**Additional Addendum after viewing my edited post** It seems the website's clock is 2 hours behind Eastern time. I sure hope its not 3pm, I want to leave work eventually! O_O

Due to the way the feature works, the site will not accurate track new topics for you until you log out and log back in once if you were using the remember me action. Doing this will set all posts written before said log out action as read. I apologize but that's just how the system has to work because those of you relying on remember me don't have a variable stored in your cookie that I can't put there until you attempt a full re-log in.

So far to me this sounds like it's working within the limitations of the system.

Additionally, all times listed on the site are based off the server's time, NOT Eastern Standard. I honestly don't know what timezone my server is in, I'm assuming PST since it's quite a bit behind. I have considered altering timestamps to be EST, but that has been very very low on my priority list since no one has requested it.

Strong:Warning: Unknown(): write failed: No space left on device (28) in Unknown on line 0

Warning: Unknown(): Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/tmp) in Unknown on line 0

I don't know what odd slew behavior is, but I'm getting those error messages.

But on the note Grace raised I'm also having problems with Remember Me and correctly marking topics I've read. It fixes itself every time I log out and back in, but breaks again later on. Haven't tracked down if this is time related or post related or session related yet.

Okay so, for some reason, everything is fixed, nothing is broken again. I am really not sure what is going on. I have a password situation I need to resolve with my web host before I can make updates, but it seems like whatever happened yesterday royally screwed over new post detection while it was at it. I think I have a better idea for implementing that now anyway so that'll be a pending fix after I turn everything back on again.
