I'd like to resume the tradition this year and throw another New Year's party.  Also Nate and I will have been together for 10 goddamn years.  Go fig.

Unfortunately, New Year's is on a Tuesday.  This could potentially make things more difficult for those who would be coming from out of state in regards to vacation time -- I only technically had Christmas Day and New Year's Day off, so I had to burn 2 vacation days to make it so I also had those Mondays off.  Even though almost no one (attending-wise) is going to be in the hospital those days, us residents would still be expected to come in because it's not officially a holiday.

For those who would be interested in going and would be in the Michigan area for the holidays, would it be ok to host in actually on New Year's Eve?  Or would it be easier to have it slightly early and label it a Generic Holiday Party instead?

I've got enough days off that I can do any party dates!

Here's the deal with me.  My office is only giving me Monday 12/24 & Tuesday 12/25 and then Tuesday 12/1 off.  As of the writing of this post I have 9 days off saved up.  What I will probably want to do at least is take the 26th, 27th, 28th & 31st off.  Now I've not spoken to Kitty at length about this yet (other concerns have been more pressing), but she has even less time off than I do so we might not be able to swing any of the week of the 31st for all I know.

What I'd like to assume is we might be able to swing a party either the weekend before or weekend after Christmas.  Being around for actual New Years would require me to ask her first.

While I believe I will have enough time off to be around for such holiday dates, I'm not sure about Colleen. While she'll probably have more time off due to part time work, it's still a matter of "when" she gets it off and we're not sure which holidays she'll have off yet. I don't think we'd make a New Year party as we have a wedding to goto on New Year's day. So once again we're a big question mark. I'm pretty sure we will be in Michigan at some point for the holidays, it's just a matter of when.

Sounding more and more like holiday party is a winner.

I am on call 12/17 - 12/23, so doing a party right before Christmas is a no-go for me.  It's more "home call" than "be at the hospital call", but I could get called in at any point and would rather not have the added stress.

It sounds like people might be able to stick around for one on the 29th?

The 29th should be good for me. It looks like I'll be visiting my brother and his wife in Wyoming (not sure if it is a real place...) for the Christmas holiday itself, but I'll be back well before the 29th and available for it!

Like, Wyoming, MI or Wyoming the state?  My sis actually lives in the former (though undoubtedly would be happier in the latter).

The state, which is why I don't think it is a real place. You never hear about anything happening there. I'm half convinced he's making the location up. (Not really, I just like to harass him about living in the middle of nowhere when I'm in Chicago.)
