Tabletop games could cover boardgames as well. TOUCHWEINERS!

Either of these are good ideas, but will they be used?  If I rename an inactive forum and it continues to not be used, then what's the point?

Is anyone, aside from Dominion, interested in posting in such a forum?

Right off the bat? Meh, maybe maybe not. But then, when there's an interesting topic to discuss? Definitely.

I mean, the D&D5e: Next thread had a lot of posts.   That one topic where we discussed death in D&D vs a campaign run without it.  Those threads had a lot of discussion on them, and if there had been a tabletop sub-forum then they'd have been there instead of random talk.

Also would be a place to chit-chat about other roleplaying experiences we've had in the past. Or  a nice forum for sharing a new system that someone's discovered.

And if tabletop includes card games? I'd definitely post there to chat about cool new games I'd come across (like, hopefully some day, Dominion).

My 2cents; no refunds, sorry.

I think you're right about the inactive forum bit. Unless we get something regular going as a group it'll probably remain inactive.

The truth of it is guys I asked this question back in 2010, and it got no response. The few people I remember asking about it back then where like "meh, naw we can just use the general gaming topic."  We've gained a few more people since then so maybe the answer is different, but that's why I am asking instead of just out and out doing it.

I think you're right about the inactive forum bit. Unless we get something regular going as a group it'll probably remain inactive.

I think if the topic is focused more broadly than just on table top RPGs, then much discussion could be had about RPGs, board games, etc etc.  For example, it might be fun to report on new board games you've tried out that you think the group might like, or share fun stories from your own table top campaigns off screen.

On the other hand I think it's just as likely that "discussion" won't happen as much as it turns into the personal table top blogging space for one or two people since all that gets posted is stuff they only care about since none of the rest of us are involved/doing it.  personally I'm for having a dedicated table top gaming forum, but as stated I don't see the point if it's not getting used.

At this point Dominion and BountyHunterSAx have expressed interest and I am flagging myself for interest as well. That's probably enough interest to make the swap but if I hear another interested voice before that'll motivate me to make the switch sooner rather than later.

In the event I do make the switch, I might need help from you guys flagging topics that need to get moved.  For example I imagine we'd want to move our D&D Next topic into said forum, but I don't know what other things we might have discussed over time that might go there.  A link to the topic would be required for me to do this so I can have the exact topic name from the database.

Huh, I don't remember that. Maybe I missed it in some flurry of posting activity. Then again I can't remember what I ate 5 minutes ago (I think it was a cookie? Sammich? A coin?). Course I may not have cared back then since I was really only interested in D&D and we were using that forum for it already. Three years to now I think as a group we've been having an increased interest in other table top games so that kinda helps.

I know it probably doesn't matter (since it's basically Nate, Ted and I who still play), but being that we have a character's page for GW1, could we get one for GW2?  Just kinda want to show off my toons, even if it doesn't really affect the rest of y'all.

The short answer:  Not before October.  I don't want to promise any major website features with the wedding less than a month away.

The long answer:  Honestly, I feel like I need to redo that whole section.  As much as I wish we all would pick one MMO (or MMO esque game) and just stick to it, we don't, and that's the fact of it.  This means that the way I built the current character page, wherein I have to manually design, build, and then code each game's character page every time we want a new game on the list, is a huge investment of time from me if only 1-3 people are ever going to use it, even moreso if those 1-3 people use it once and never update it.

That said, giving a list of characters in all the games you are playing so users of this site have an easier time knowing how to find you and play with you in these games might still be a useful thing to have.  What I would love to have time to do is redo the character page completely so that you guys can just add characters to it, indicating the game they belong to.  This will result in a less customized experience per game, but it will give you the ability to report on any game that is included in this site's game library instead of waiting for me to build something manually.

How does that sound?  Or would you still prefer the manual custom job for each game?

While we're on the topic, permission to firebomb the SWTOR and WoW sections of the character page.

The redesign you describe makes absolute and perfect sense to me! Firebomb away, good sir! And thank you for your work.

That sounds great!  I would love having a way to list all my toons in one simple way.........heck, will be easier to compare my GW Elisel to my GW2 Elisel.  I will second the firebombing, though I probably shouldn't get a vote (having never played those games).
