I'd like to try Raynor Party out, if there's enough people interested.

It's a custom Starcraft II custom map for 2-8 (or was it 12?) players. A set of ... I'm gonna guess 12 or so minigames ala Mario Party. The game *sounds* like it runs a pleasant tone and is funny.   Hopefully it is!

I tried out 3-4 of the minigames just to get a sense of the quality of the map. ... seems solid enough. I'm avoiding learning too much about the game itself, though, on the off chance we actually do play it and I'd rather be surprised.

For those of you who don't have SC2:HotS - never fear, Blizzard Spawn-copy is here! :). By joining a party with someone who does have a copy of the game you gain access to lots of new game content, including the custom/arcade maps. This works for the free "SC2:Starter Edition" too!!!!

For those on the fence about it, below is a video of Raynor Party in action. And of course, there's a lot of other cool arcade maps -- I'm a huge fan of BlasterBots (a bomberman clone). Or just  doing some good ole fashion comp-stomping.

And then there's always staples like LoL, or oldies-but-goodies like Magicka.

From a "holy crap that's a Starcraft map?" stand point, it's an impressive parody of Mario Party and certainly could be a lot of fun with a bunch of people at least somewhat familiar with SC2 and its units and unit abilities.

As something to do for game night I can't see myself wanting to do more than one to two rounds of it.  I was never a giant Mario Party fan in the first place.

That said, BountyHunterSAx told me over vent while we were playing SC2 last night that due to his family coming in for Eid (aka end of Ramadan) he won't be joining us this week (just in case he doesn't have time to post himself here).

We still need to call what to play.  I had the following thoughts:

  1. Personally I'd like to do something with SC2 or TERA the most, but I know that's unlikely.
  2. Warframe
  3. Space Game
  4. I don't suppose there's anyway we can do a game night round of Civ that doesn't involve having to gut each other is there?
  5. I haven't checked yet, but I don't suppose there's any Queen's Jubilee content in GW2 that works for an organized 5-man group does it?
  6. There's always LoL.  Kinda bummed to see Lucian's not around yet.

My vote is for Space Game or SC2. Last couple of times Space Game was played I've missed it for one reason or another (sometimes being my own fault for being late). I'm also down with some Civ V idea but similar concerns of with a large number of us some people are gonna get gutted early-ish or we'd just have some hugely unfair advantage against the computer.

I'm going to be late, if I can make it at all tonight. One of the ladies at work broke her computer AGAIN. This happens every six weeks or so. She isn't doing it on purpose, but she's the only one who has this problem and this is her third computer. Instead of rolling her out another identical piece of hardware I'm going to set her up with something different, Windows 7 instead of XP, but the only available to her department computer licensed for Win 7 requires DDR3 memory. I only have one gig of that here at work. Fortunately I have 2x2GB of it at home from when I built my last computer and bought the wrong memory quantity. So after work I've gotta go home, get it, turn around and come back in, install the memory, then migrate her profile to the new computer. Don't know when I'll be home.

I don't think there's any 5-manning for this new content in GW2.  Would encourage those who want to participate that
1. there are random out-in-the-game-world events that go on that you need to complete at least 3 of to get the required 16 total events for the meta-achievement, and
2. if you try the gauntlet tournament thing, it is a timed kill-a-boss-solo thing and some classes have found it near IMPOSSIBLE to beat certain bosses.  That being said, apparently progress is account-based, not by character, so you can face-roll with a Guardian for the whole thing or use one class to get past a particular boss or something.

I am also anxious for Lucian to finally drop.

I could play Space Game, but lack SC2.  Looking forward to burning off some steam tonight regardless.

EDIT: I now own the latest DLC. Go coffee shop internet!

Sounds like Space Game is a good bet from those who've said anything and can attend (all 3 of us). I am okay with this.

While I would be perfectly content to space game tonight, just to re-iterate, playing Starcraft 2 hasn't been an issue of owning it for a while.  As far as Mulitplayer goes, Starcraft 2 is practically free to play.  You can go here, download the starter edition, and you can play as Terran in multiplayer.  They also added spawning with Heart of the Swarm.  What this means is if you join a party with a friend who owns HotS, you gain access to new HotS units and the super-fun Co-Op vs Ai ladder they added that Ahmad and I have been enjoying.   Also, Wings of Liberty users who join a party with a HotS user also can try out these new HotS features while in multiplayer with them.

That said, if you don't want to play Stracraft2 because you don't want to play Starcraft 2, that's understandable.  Just saying that "not owning it" at this point is like saying you don't own DotA 2 or LoL.

Hit the nail on the head, I guess.  Sucked at SC1 after a certain period of time, never made it past the Terran campaign.  Don't really feel like busting my chops to try to learn a game that I apparently can't handle.  Sins is an RTS that I can deal with, though I'm only just now comfortable (using the term very loosely here) enough to actually get a fleet up and running in a semi-fast amount of time, and that's just with the Advent.  Frankly, you don't want me to play SC2.  Imagine how frustrating it was to get me into LoL until I became somewhat competent?  That times a thousand.

For the record, I had fun playing Starcraft 1 with you.  I had fun playing Starcraft 1 with all of you.  LoL is a completely different kind of frustrating.
