Here's something I thought looked interesting based on the Steam ads and THEN noticed TB did a WTF is so here it is.

It's another rogue-light platformer, this one is sci-fi and survival based. It has 10 characters you can play/unlock and each has 4 abilites (a bit DOTA esque in that regard) and you just try to survive against random challenges and bosses.  The combat looks responsive and more complex than most rogue-light platformers. TB complains about how the game requires you to discover what items do, but that part actually looks pretty fun to me. Oh also the soundtrack sounds fun.

TB's video leads me to think I may enjoy this as much as I thought so a few of you might be interested in it as well.  He liked it more than both Rogue Legacy and Spelunky so yeah. It also has online co-op so might be a small group Game Night option should we end up with it?

I saw you had put it on your wishlist and took a look into it. Seems pretty cool and could be very interesting. I'll have to watch the video when I get home but I'm interested.

That does look better than Rogue Legacy. I agree with him in that the art style isn't compelling, but I like what he showed of the music. Adding it to my wishlist too.

I've read about this game now on Rock-Paper-Shotgun, and watched part of the WTF video.

The graphics are really really bad. This is, mercifully, only a very mild turnoff for someone of my temprament.

This game has lots of awesome going for it, and I'm *very* interested in eventually getting around to playing this. Most interesting is definitely the idea of difficulty increasing constantly over time, so that "blatant farming" is not possible. It's advance or die, and advance *and* die at the same time. The platforming seems fun too. Honestly, this game seems like Binding of Isaac except no sacreligious overtones, and platformer instead of shmup. I'm a fan of platformers and enjoyed Rogue Legacy; so these are good things.

I've got other games in my pipeline though, so i'll probably wait for a sale. If this becomes something people want to coordinatedly co-op on GameKnights, then definitely count me in.

I got this from Colleen (who I assume is my Secret Santa this year) today and gave it a whirl when I got home from work. First thing I have to say is this would be a huge pain in the ass without a controller! Second thing I have to say is FUCK GAMES THAT ONLY SUPPORT XBOX 360 CONTROLLERS. Seriously.

I got my gamepad working with x360ce but doing so broke the game's audio. After exiting and relaunching the game a handful of times audio came back. No idea why. Oh well. Here's hoping it sticks! The little gameplay I did sans-audio was fun though confusing due to not knowing what the items I can pick up do. I died in the second level.

EDIT: The random nature of the loot is going to be frustrating. Having no control at all over getting the kinds of items you need to survive is frustrating after three more deaths on the first level while still in easy mode.

Frustrating difficult? Frustrating unfair but manageable? Frustrating: "Dungeon Crawl does it better"? Or  FTL level?

If this game succeeds in being better than Spelunky I'll definitely be interested in it, and it *sounds* like it pulls that off pretty well. . .

I suppose it is frustrating in a "I can't be sure if I did well or just got good items" sort of way currently. I definitely have a lot of improvement to do in avoiding incoming attacks and figuring out when I can counter-attack. I die because I don't know when it is safe to attack, so I get hit a lot. Items can really compensate for this. Hugely. A couple health regenerating or restoring items takes you from losing 15% health to a small group of guys to breaking even after a few seconds out of combat. If you break even in health, you've gained XP and money. What I need to learn to do is get through level 1 with bad items, breaking even in health in the majority of fights.

Then once I can do that I can worry about how hard level 2 kicked my butt. The one time I got there I went from being able to fight even the boss indefinitely to killed by a group of normal mobs inside two minutes!

EDIT: I suppose I should say that the game has gotten me to write about it at all is a good sign as it means it is interesting!

Grats! I actually was able to beat the game with Acrid earlier today too XD He's the first class I got really far in and agree with his crazy awesomeness. Now you get access to the sniper! Who I can... not get very far with. I get that he's supposed to deal tons of damage but his multi-target damaging seems mediocre which just means death in this game.
