Today I broke 3,000 pushups so far this year! I am quite pleased with myself.

Mucho congrats!  As of the 20th, I have hit 1500 push-ups for the year myself..........and surpassed that in number of squats, somewhat unsurprisingly.  And yes, the squat challenge is just as awful as you think it is.  Though Nate can apparently do like, 80 squats in one set now.  Stupid men and their stupid sexy muscles.

Good for you Tim!  I'm in that ballpark as well - I never did a spreadsheet though.

Keep it going folks!

This was from reddit this morning, but still.  Makes me want to punch a bear.  Or everything!  Yeah.  Punch everything!

Though in actuality I need to apply it to writing some papers and shit tonight.

Ok, so I did reach my goal of 10,000 pushups last year, though it happened way later than it should have.  I dropped off for a couple of months there (letting things in real life distract me from my goal), and it really did end up hurting me in the long run.

I appear to have stabilized my weight gain and will hopefully begin losing pounds now that I'm out of the regular woods of residency and into the board studying months.  Also, at some point last year my thyroid stopped working, so now I'm on medication for that.  That (and the Vitamin D deficiency) might help to explain why I felt so crummy for basically all of last year -- I know I've got to make more diet and exercise adjustments to actually see progress in the fitness department, but I seem to have more energy now.

I am upping the ante on my goal for pushups to 15,000 for the year -- with what I'm doing per day currently, that should be easy to hit/overshoot as long as I stick with it.  I enjoyed running that 5k we did in October (and would like to do more), so I'm going to toss running into the mix.  My goal is 100 miles in 2015, which is measly when you consider that doing 3 miles a week will net you over 150 miles for the year.  Leaving it a little lower (i.e. still manageable/attainable) just in case of life mishaps, though if I can hold a running routine for a couple of months, I'll up the number of miles for the year.

I'm hoping that by the time I move to Chicago I will have made some progress on my fitness goals and can update my professional wardrobe without worrying that those clothes won't fit down the road.

Good luck on everyone's fitness goals, and happy working out!
