So, as of the time of this posting, The PS3 has been out for a pair of days, the Nintendo Wii is available, and the Xbox360 has been on store shelves for over a year.

So far I have been trying to watch the coverage as it is available.  The PS3's opening salvo of launch titles seem laughable at best.  Resistance: Fall of Man is the only good game for the system.  While I hear it is a very good game, it is still all the PS3 has to offer at this time, with any more titles worth their salt waiting until 2007 to release.

Meanwhile, the Wii still has a lot of exciting buzz surrounding it about gameplay, but alot of slaps against it about the graphics really not feeling Next Gen, which, based off screens I've seen so far, I can understand.  Given however, that the best game for the system presently has been in-development for the Gamecube for years, that might be a part of the problem.  In case you don't know I am talking about Zelda: Twilight Princess.

Meanwhile, the Xbox360 has dropped a serious bomb shell in the form of Gears of War. This title not only seems good, it's omfg I have got to have it good.  While the PS3 titles so far are lacking in gameplay, making up for in graphics, and the Wii titles are lacking in graphics and carrying in gameplay, Gears of War totes both and totes them well.

Of course, this is all based off what I am hearing.  It's not like I'm loaded and have played each of these systems yet.  Still based off what I am hearing I can't help but feel like perhaps the Wii is not the system get all excited about this year.
Next year, when it's had a chance to roll out the gold-plated-platinum hits in the form of Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3: Corruptoin, and Super Smash Brothers Brawl, and who knows what else, maybe.  But with the Wii's smaller price tag I am beginning to think that perhaps Christmas is a better time to pick up the more expensive 360, and save the Wii for when the real hits come out.

I mean we've all been through launch lag before.  The system comes out, we're all excited and stuff for a bit.  Then the first year hits, and you're still playing the same crap titles from last christmas because everything else is in development.  You find yourself really not playing the system that much because there isn't anything worth playing.  It's finally that year later when you smile to yourself and you are glad you picked that game system up.  It happened for the PS2, it happened for the Gamecube, and I have no reason to believe this time will be different.

Meanwhile, much like the Dreamcast before, there are quality titles on the 360 right now. Gears of War, Dead Rising, Oblivion (which ... I probably won't play... I already have one soul sucking RPG in my life I don't need two), the Sonic game in the near future, and all the cool Xbox live Arcade stuff like Geometry wars.

Even as I write this though I know that there is a part of me that is supposed to "keep the faith" in Nintendo.  Still, Gears of War really looks that good while... I mean yeah It's Zelda, and I am excited for that... but when I beat Zelda I'm done with it.  It doesn't have ongoing online and split screen multiplayer support for co-op and competiative. So what's gonna tide me over until whenever TBA 2007 is on the rest of these titles?

Ahh screw it.  Maybe I shouldn't bother and just upgrade my video card and gear up for Superme Commander,,,

Rant over.
