Fuzz wins! Next: Holiday gaming 2007 PDF Print E-mail

Okay so that movie poll has been up way way too long.  Hot Fuzz won 4 to 2.  I personally didn't vote, I wanted to see Fuzz one more time before I weighed in, but having seen Transformers twice I think it's safe to say Fuzz is a less disappointing movie.  And Transformers was better than I thought it would be too!

For the next poll I am curious to see what gaming platform you think has the best line up this holiday season.  That's not to say that you like/want this console per say, but that the games themselves make for an impressive package.  I'm talking mostly about system exclusives, but if you want to weigh in the fact that there is no Wii version of games like Call of Duty 4 or Assassin's Creed, feel free.

If you're not familiar with what's on the plate for all the systems this season, keep reading for a quick summary.

Nintendo Wii:

  1. Super Mario Galaxy - I don't know what else to say about this.  Mario's back in what some are calling the best Mario game ever, or at least the best since Mario 64 and better than it to boot.
  2. Metroid Prime 3 - The third installment of the Metroid Prime series, said to be the conclusing of a 3 game story.  Praised by most for it's great graphics/art direction and outstanding controls, slamed by some for its lighter difficulty and "I've so done this before" feelings.
  3. Resident Evil: Umbrella Cronicales (and Wii Zapper in general) - Light gun fans rejoice the Wii device for you is here, complete with an on-rails shooter retelling of Resident Evil Zero, Resident Evil and Resident Evil 3 in case you needed the plot refresher.
Missing in action: Super Smash Brothers Brawl was supposed to be out on December 2nd but when they announced the addition of Sonic the game got pushed back to January and now Febuary.

Xbox 360

  1. Halo 3 - The third installment to the obscenely popular FPS, the fastest selling peice of entertainment medium of all time.  I'm not saying any more,  you've heard it all by now already.
  2. Mass Effect - A massively huge RPG from the people who brought you Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic that is said to be a ton of fun, if you can look through all the small issues that add up into big ones.
  3. Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty 4 are both highly acclaimed and on both the 360 and the PS3.  Also The Orange Box, which is also up for PC as is Call of Duty 4.
Missing in Action Unreal Tournament 3, though neither PC or PS3 is getting this either.

Playstation 3

  1. Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction - The first venture for the Lombax on the PS3 (and Insomniac's 2nd PS3 game), game trailers calls it "A game that feels like playing a Pixar movie" while gamespot says it tries to do too much silly added stuff instead of sticking to its roots.
  2. Uncharted - Drake's Fortune - Naughty Dog's first PS3 game, suprisingly not a Jak or Daxter game, is a high detail action adventure game on a jungle isle.
  3. Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty 4 are both highly acclaimed and on both the 360 and the PS3.  Also The Orange Box, which is also up for PC as is Call of Duty 4.
Missing in Action: Metal Gear Solid 4 which was maybe going to make it this Christmas, as well as UT3 although PS3 may yet get it this year as rumors persist.

  1. Crysis - The PC's best First Person shooter at the moment, Crysis is the latest entry from Far Cry creators Crytek, and features the most robust and detailed graphics to date. Aside from eye candy Crysis is being praised for its fun diversity of gameplay as well.
  2. World in Conflict  - An alternet reality Real-Time Stradegy game where you must save America from a Soviet invasion.  Famous for great graphics and oustanding team play, based off the resource-gathering-free control point system of the Ground Control series.
  3. The Orange Box - First-Person heven.  All of the Half-Life 2 chapters, Portal, and Team Fortress 2 in one low price.  Every one has the sort of love and dedication put into it that you expect from quality Valve work.  Also for 360.  Call of Duty 4 is also up for goes, featured on 360 and PS3 as well.
  4. Hellgate: London- will be great as soon as they fix all the bugs.
Missing in Action: Starcraft 2 (I guess that was wishful thinking), Unreal Tournament 3, the PC version of Assassin's Creed, Universe At War: Earth Assault.
