Re:MMO Discussion - 2006/04/25 18:49 I can see where there is the appeal for WoW. Being able to traverse over all of the landscape would make for easier adventuring. ^_^ And it is neat that you can just randomly run into people and then party with them.

I do like being able to map places -- running is awfully time consuming, especially when the way is fraught with peril (it's annoying to almost get to the warp and then die because you've aggro'd everything in the instance and they all finally caught up to you). While it is a little less "find peeps and make parties" friendly, I haven't had too many problems. Finding decent people to do missions and PvP is sometimes difficult, but not impossible.

I do think I know why WoW doesn't attract me -- I'm not an MMO person. I liked PSO because it wasn't the typical MMO, and that's most likely why I like GW. I also like how it makes you learn how to use your skills effectively -- since you can't use all of them all the time, you can develop different playing styles. I know Elisel has gone through a bunch of them at this point, and now if I'm out in an instance and the skills I have don't quite fit like how I thought they would, I know enough how to make them work until I get to the next town.

There's a chance I might try WoW -- after all, can't necessarily make an informed decision without trying all the options. Cadbury has been bugging us to play with him, so we might pop onto a free server at some point. But it just doesn't hold the appeal for me.

I'm actually kind of glad they don't move their mouths during cut scenes -- my comp can barely handle it as it is. ^_^
You’re what keeps me believing this world’s not gone dead

When they pour out to paper, it's all for you.
'Cause that’s what you do.
That's what you do.
